Enough with the snow already, amirite? Yes, the snow was pretty, the hot cocoa was delicious, but hello, it’s spring! Did earth not get the memo?
At any rate, I know that folks are getting excited for Easter and just waiting for those flowers to push through the ground and open their pretty faces.
You want easy breezes, trees leafing out, bunnies peeking out of warrens (but please don’t eat the daisies!), and tulips, glorious tupils!
Instead we’re getting another cold rain. Ugh!
But let’s have faith. Let’s have faith in a beautiful world, in the turning of the seasons, and that those flowers are coming. They are, they are!
So with just a few days left to prepare for your Easter table (and a litle longer to get ready for Passover), I thought I’d share some decor ideas for your spring tables and some fun treats for the Easter baskets.
Fake it till you Make it
Maybe we won’t have as much in the way of fresh local flowers this cold spring, but here at the Staunton Antiques Center we’ve got some lovely faux flower arangements in the store for your Easter and Passover tables. At least they’re long lasting and low maintenance!
Just Add Water
If you’ve been waiting for the perfet moment to finally create the dining room of your dreams, we have a range of lovely tables and chairs in stock, from a very traditional colonial look right on up to some of the hippest and/or most elegant Mid Century Modern selections.
And the great thing is that these are often far more affordable than buying new. So like an insta-mix, if you come down and find a great table for your spring party it’ll be just like adding water for an insta-dining room!
Service with a Smile
Little accents can make all the difference for a beautiful event table on your holy day and you’d be surprised just how elegant (and yet affordable) are many pewter, silver plated, or china tea or coffee sets. A pot, creamer, and sugar with the panache of the past will add beauty and gravitas to your table.
And on that front, we also carry a wide slection of ever-changing and unique serving utensils, platters, boards, cocktail glasses and bar accessories, as well as bowls, plates, tea cups, and table lines.
Whether you like romantic linens, stately china, hand-crafted pottery, or modern glass you’d love looking around at our various vendor booths to find that perfect addition or whole set to give your table extra aplomb!
A cake is lovely on its own, but put that cake on a cake stand and pow — you’ve just made it that much more drool-worthy to your guests.
We have many cake stands, mulit-tiered pastry, pie, candy, and cookie stands, and lots of little ecclectic pieces for making your desserts a stand out.
Keeping little hands busy during a big family event is always a challenge. And it’s more fun to see them busy at work rather than just watching the tube.
So when they’re not happily assisting you in the kitchen or cuddling with grandma engage them with tissue, buttons, fabric, glitter, and glue. Some of our vendors carry a good selection of these items and more that can help your little ones be makers during the family gathering.
Or, try a good old-fashioned vintage board or card game that everyone loves. Little producers can stage a puppet show with some hand puppets or mimic the goings-on in the kitchen with their own tea party. Come in and see why it’s never too early to cultivate a love for vintage and antique items!
And we know that those who celebrate Easter would love to add somethign lasting and enduring to the Easter baskets and we’ve got plenty of that, too — stuffed bunnies, ceramic bunnies, vintage paper eggs, glass and stone eggs, fuzzy chicks, little lambs, and all manner of sweet, gentle, and loving expressions of the season.
Joy of the Season!
Whatever you celebrate, and whatever other occasions mark your spring, we hope you have pleasure in bringing it all together, joy in what you’ve created, and love with those with whom you celebrate.
And if we can help in any way to make your occasions more special then please, come see us. With 40 vendors, you’re sure to find something to please you…or just delight in a good browse around!
