It seems Charlottesvillians love us. And we love you for loving us. It’s a real love-in!
The reason I know this is true is that at the bustling front desk of the Staunton Antiques Center we hear two things more than just about anything else. The first is,
“I LOVE the music you all play here!” (Come over the mountain and you’ll hear it, too!)
The second is,
“We love Staunton. We live in Charlottesville but we always LOVE to come to Staunton.”
Of course, we love to hear that. And we love to shout this feedback from the rooftops so that other CVille-dwellers will know what makes coming to Staunton such an easy, fun, and must-do day trip — not just once, but more like once-a-month!
Come Over the Mountian
First off, we’re your neighbors, like a sister city. At only 45 minutes from your downtown to ours, or 20 minutes from Crozet to Staunton, our little main street gem makes for a nice diversion when you just want something different to do.
We’ve got two breweries, a winery tasting room, and a wine bar all within four blocks of each other in our downtown.
Yes, come over the mountain and have a taste of what we’ve got!
That’s Show Biz
We’ve got the ultra amazing American Shakespeare Center doing shows most days of the year, including matinees, regular nighttime shows, and seasonal picks, and the equally impressive Heifetz International Music Festival putting on outrageously entertaining musical performances throughout the summer and occasionally through the year.
This much culture in a six block radius in a town of only 24k people? Yes, come over the mountain because coming over the mountain will entertain and delight you!
We’ve got my son’s restaurant, The Shack, which, yes, I’m going to brag here, is a nationally recognized foodie treasure specializing in Appalachian inspired foodways. You can see more of Staunton’s restaurant options on our tourism website and then you’re going to say what?
“I’m hungry. Yes, let’s go over the mountain!”
And you know that I’m proud of the amazing selection of antique and vintage shopping in Staunton. From our highly-curated 6,000 square feet of antique and vintage booths to the shops of my friends and neighbors all within a mere three blocks of each other.
You want to find something unique? Yes, come over the mountain!
In and amongst our many offerings there’s a streetscape of gorgeous architecture, unrivaled walkability, fabulous accommodations, a great Saturday morning farmers market, a treasure trove of bookstores, an indie cinema, art galleries and so much more.
Don’t believe me? Come over the mountain!
