Now that the stats are in we’ve learned that July was the hottest month on record since humans began keeping tabs. So to say this summer has been sultry, torrid, tropical even is an understatement! All this has given rise to the notion that the best thing to do in a heat wave is…take it easy.
Thus we’ve come up with an art show theme titled, “Summertime and the Living Is…,” leaving that last word for you to fill in the blank. Because with about two more months of summer we sure need to wrap our minds around the kind of ease and pleasure that summer is meant to bring. And nothing brings more pleasure than art and the wonderful artists who make it.
“Summertime and the Living Is…,”
Our newest exciting and wide-ranging summer exhibition/art sale at The Artisans Loft won’t disappoint. It truly is a feast for your eyes and senses!
In always trying to expand our connection to the artist community and the community of our audiences, we have twelve new artists represented and several artists whose work you haven’t seen for awhile. We’ve opened up the upstairs front room for this show, so there’s much to see, with 38 artists and over 200 works of art!
There truly is something for everyone to appreciate in this exhibit, with varying sizes and mediums and prices ranging from $25 to $3000.
Summertime and the Living Is...includes artwork using unusual techniques such as: digital collage; sculptural glass; paintings that turn; paintings on feathers; wood art (both 2D and 3D); mixed media collage, and poured acrylic and inks.
For those traditionalists out there, we have oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, hand woven baskets, treasure boxes, and cutting boards, as well as free standing sculptures – both ranging from realism to abstract.
Last but not least, we have beautiful, unique jewelry created with fused glass and/or found metal.
Opening August 9th, 6-9pm
The opening is this Friday night, August 9th, from 6 to 9pm.
Our openings are known far and wide as one of the best quarterly events in Staunton and the greater Augusta area. Besides the artwork, there are friendly people, a celebratory mood, artists to meet, festive food and drink, and great music. Please join us because even though the summer’s been hot, we’ve stayed cool. Not just with what our artists produce, but we are fully air-conditioned, too. So come cool-down with us in more ways than one this Friday where it’s Summertime and the Living Is…
