The entire city of Staunton, Virginia and certainly its downtown community are so excited to welcome all our visitors for the 4th annual Queen City Mischief and Magic Festival (QCMM) this coming weekend.
And right here at the Staunton Antiques Center we’re excited to once again be transforming our 15 thousand square feet of antiques and vintage retail space into what will be known as Ye Olde Curiosity Shop for the weekend.
Now, does that mean our shop will look dramatically different than usual? Not so much. But I do want to share with you some really special things about being Ye Olde Curiosity Shop and why we can’t wait for visits from witches, wizards, muggles, and mommies alike!
Get Your Pouch Here
In fact, we’re THE PLACE to get your FREE QCMM Character Trading Cards Pouch (while supplies last)! And while you’re at it, we’ll have one of those trading cards for you, too (while supplies last). So cross the threshold of Ye Old Curiosity Shop and come to the front desk to get yours.
Yet there’s so much more!
First, our wizardly vendors have, in fact, brought to their shelves items for both dark and light arts, particularly amulets, wands, potion bottles, owls, masks, clawed necklaces, decor, and much more that directly relates to the culture and climate that fans of Harry Potter have come to love.
And yet we go well beyond that.
Curiouser and Curiouser
What is the point of a curiosity shop? Why curiosities, of course. And the only way to discover curiosities is to come in and explore. When you come in to Ye Old Curiosity Shop you never know what you will find. It might be magical, it might be ordinary, it might be surprising, it might be fascinating…whatever it is, it will certainly be both entertaining and inviting.
As the resident witch in charge of Ye Old Curiosity Shop I can assure you that an unhurried visit to our two levels of antiques and vintage goods will provide fodder for great conversations, delightful discoveries, and a world of captivating finds to unearth.
Cross the Threshold
More than that, we’re a place of respite and relief. Because while the throngs of wizards, and witches, and muggles crawl the streets and haunt the many festival offerings in search of fun and fantasy, all of that activity and buzz can be quite the intense experience!
Take a gentle stroll down our beautifully curated and creatively displayed aisles and booths and see for yourself. While our old-fashioned music transports you through time, our even older items will make you wonder just which century you’re in.
And just stepping inside for a half hour or so will offer you and your gaggle of ghouls or your coven of witches or your conflagration of wizards or your tribe of muggles a moment to catch your breath, explore the past, and ready you for more time outside on Knockturn Alley and Diagon Alley and more.
