One of the most fun things about running an antiques shop is meeting so many other antiques lovers*. Customers often come by the shop with a story about an item they have, or an anecdote about a family member’s collection, or they tell us about that time they scored an unbelievable find that turned out to be worth a mint!
When it’s possible, we’ll tell them what we know about their item. And when it’s not, we always do our best to point folks to where they can do online or in-person research to find out more about what they’re hunting for, what they have, or what they want to sell.
And now we’re happy to help spread the word through our blog about an exciting opportunity for antique and vintage lovers that’s right here in Virginia in the months ahead. We especially hope the news will prompt Staunton locals to get in on the game. And that is…
As part of their 2020 Tour, Antiques Roadshow will be in Williamsburg, Virginia on Tuesday, April 28th both inside, and around the grounds of the colonial portion of Williamsburg, the “revolutionary city!”
And the best part of all is that right now YOU can apply for tickets. Here are the details according to the Virginia Public Media website:
Applications for tickets will be accepted through February 19, 2020. Ticket winners will be selected in a random drawing in late February 2020. All tickets will be distributed electronically to winner’s ticket application email address in advance of the event. You must have a ticket to enter the event. Tickets will not be available on the day of event.
Since the tickets are randomly selected, the more folks from Staunton who apply, the more chances we’ll have for one or more people from our proud town get to be part of the festivities.
But whether you’re one of our local shoppers, or visitors from nearby, you can still apply to go to the show.
When it comes time to air the Virginia episode, even if you don’t have regular TV you can watch Antiques Roadshow online and maybe see your friends and neighbors and check out their wares. You can even take Frasier Crane’s approach and turn watching Antiques Roadshow into a drinking game. Bottoms up to the word “veneeer!”
In the meantime where do you want to go? Why to the Staunton Antiques Center, of course!
We’re open seven days a week in charming, walkable, downtown Staunton, Virginia, right in the heart of our Main Street America community. So come by and say hi, tell us what you’re hunting for, or tell us about what you’ve found…or tell us to leave you alone because you really like to shop by yourself! Whichever way you like it is fine with us — we’re just happy that there’s so much love for antiques!
