Such a beautiful spring day for such sad news and such a heavy heart.
Even though we have a huge space, wide aisles, and plenty of room for social distancing while shopping, I have decided to move in solidarity with our community, and with Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, in electing to temporarily shutter the Staunton Antiques Center and The Artisans Loft after today, Tuesday March 24th, until further notice.
Today we will be open from Noon-5pm.
Life in the Time of Coronavirus
In the midst of this crisis I have been open at Staunton Antiques Center & The Artisans Loft every day because of the reasons cited above — more than enough room for social distancing.
During the last week everyone who has come into the store has been delightful, respectful, and thankful to browse or make a purchase, and glad to support our vendors with a sale.
My hope was that our size would allow us to stay open and continue to support my 25 vendors in the Staunton Antiques Center and the 30 artisans currently showing upstairs in the Artisans Loft for as long as possible.
Needless to say we were keeping things wiped down, and washing our hands, and utilizing new procedures to make interaction as safe as possible.
But out of an abundance of caution, and to reflect the choices made by my fellow shopkeepers and restaurateurs in downtown Staunton, we too will take a break for now to see where things go.
We are taking things day by day and will continue to re-evaluate.
Reach Out, Let’s Stay In Touch
In the meantime, if you have a specific need, an occasion to commemorate, or recall an item in the Staunton Antiques Center or piece of art in the Artisans Loft that you’d like to purchase, please contact us via the website or on Facebook and we’ll do everything possible to source the item for you and make the sale in a nice, socially distant way.
Everyone stay safe, stay connected, stay optimistic — we will all get through this together. And if I know Staunton, we’ll come out on the other side stronger than ever!
